Some Perspective
About six months ago I took my first full time job out of undergrad at a major investment bank in NYC. From a few months before graduation, and continuing with an ever increasing frequency since, people have asked if I’m nervous about losing my job. The easy answer is always, ‘no, I think my position is relatively secure’ - and indeed, without going into the justifications here,...

Network Neutrality a Myth?
With regards to my prior post, further perspective on the Wall Street Journal article:
“Google has been caught red-handed negotiating deals with ISPs to host servers inside the building, just like Akamai does. The semi-technical press thinks this is some sort of a game-changing event:”

The Ruckus About Network Neutrality
This morning the Wall Street Journal published a story claiming that Google had approached broadband providers with hopes to secure higher quality content delivery services. A concept anathema to most Network Neutralites, Lawrence Lessig is even cited as “softening” his position on NN to allow for this kind of differentiation.
Lessig responds in a post here in which he appears to...

You know what I sort of hate? Sometimes, when you get really excited about a YouTube video and play it for your friends, about halfway through you realize that the video is longer than you thought and now everyone sort of wish they weren’t watching it.
…But now that YouTube is in HD that won’t be a problem anymore. Everything is funnier in High Definition.

Google Friend Connect Now Open To All Websites →
This is great and all, but any “battle” between FB and Google seems to miss the point. At first glance I would toss my hat in with Friend Connect, given its more open capabilities (OpenID, Yahoo, AIM, Google), but the fact is that until Friend Connect can pull data from Facebook or Facebook Connect can pull data from Google’s camp, no “standard” will ever emerge.
But...

gOS Cloud
Go check out gOS Cloud. It’s a stripped down linux distro designed for the cloud as operating system. It can run client applications ‘embedded’ in the browser in new tabs, and it even has a cute little dock for those of us still stuck in the ‘stone age’ of client side operating systems. Ewww.
Good OS, the company responsible for gOS Cloud, is focused on developing...
